Everything we make is made to order, finished by hand and checked in Britain before it leaves us. This page sets out how long that takes, how your order travels, what it costs to send, and what happens if you change your mind or something arrives wrong. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
Lead times
Plan on around eight weeks from order to delivery for pieces from the range. We would rather give you the honest figure than an optimistic one. Where an order is going to take longer we will tell you before you commit.
| What you have ordered | Typical time to delivery | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pieces from the range | Around 8 weeks | Order and deposit in week 1, production in weeks 2–5, freight and delivery in weeks 6–8. |
| Bespoke pieces | 12–17 weeks from an approved drawing | Drawing, a physical sample in your finish, production and freight. The bespoke page breaks each stage down. |
| Colour samples | A few working days | Sent from stock so the finish is right before a single piece is made. £10 each, up to four per order. Return them within 60 days and the full amount comes back to you as a credit code, valid on any order over £100 for six months. Order samples. |
Lead times are our best estimate and are not a guaranteed delivery date. Please do not book a fitter or a joiner until your order has arrived and you have checked it.
Delivery costs and destinations
We ship to the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Canada. UK, European and North American orders are dispatched from our United Kingdom workshop.
| Destination | Cost | Service |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | Free on orders over £250. For orders under £250 the delivery charge is shown at checkout | Tracked and signed for on delivery. |
| Germany and France | Carrier's price, calculated at checkout by destination and weight | Delivered duty paid: import duty and local tax are settled at checkout, nothing to pay on arrival. Tracked and signed for. |
| United Arab Emirates | Carrier's price, calculated at checkout by destination and weight | Delivered duty paid: UAE duty and VAT are settled at checkout, nothing to pay on arrival. Tracked and signed for. |
| United States and Canada | Carrier's price, calculated at checkout by destination and weight | Delivered duty paid: import duty and local tax are settled at checkout, nothing to pay on arrival. Tracked and signed for. |
| Anywhere else | Quoted on request | Email enquiries@george-mirza.com with your address and what you would like, and we will confirm whether we can deliver and at what cost. |
For international orders we pass on the carrier's price and add nothing to it. Orders to Europe, the UAE, the United States and Canada are sent delivered duty paid (DDP): the import duty and local tax for your address are calculated at checkout and we settle them with the carrier on your behalf, so there is nothing to pay when your parcel arrives. Prices shown in euros, dirhams, US dollars and Canadian dollars exclude UK VAT.
Tracking and what to expect on delivery
- When your order is dispatched we email you the carrier's tracking reference. Tracking can take up to 48 hours to become active after dispatch.
- Every delivery needs a signature. If nobody is available the carrier will leave a card or message you to rearrange; please respond promptly, as parcels that cannot be delivered are returned to us and will need to be sent again.
- Please add a mobile number to your order so the carrier can reach you on the day.
- Larger orders may arrive in more than one parcel, occasionally on different days. Your dispatch email will say how many to expect.
- Check the packaging and the contents as soon as you can. Signing for a parcel confirms that it arrived; it does not stop you reporting damage, but telling us quickly helps us put it right quickly. See Damaged, faulty or incorrect items below.
Changing your order before dispatch
Because every piece is made for you, please check sizes, finishes, handing and door thicknesses before you order. That is exactly what the colour sample service is for. If something needs to change, email enquiries@george-mirza.com or message us on WhatsApp straight away. We will do our best to accommodate a change to finish, size or quantity before production starts; once a piece is in production, a change may not be possible or may be treated as a new order. Changes to your delivery address must reach us at least seven days before the agreed dispatch date.
Returning colour samples
Samples are £10 each and yours to keep for up to 60 days. Post them back to us within that time, at your own cost, to George Mirza Ltd, 177-179 Washway Road, Sale, Manchester, M33 4AH, with a note of your order number inside. The amount you paid for the samples that come back is credited to you as a single-use discount code: it is sent with your dispatch email, switches on the day the samples reach us, and can be used on any order over £100 within six months, together with any other discount code. Samples that are not returned are not credited.
Holding your order
Building work rarely runs to the day. Once your order is ready we can hold it for you, at no cost, for up to 60 days until you are ready to receive it. Just tell us when you order, or as soon as you know your dates.
Returns: your right to cancel
If you are a consumer in the UK and you change your mind about a piece from our standard range, you may cancel your order up to 14 days after the day you receive it, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To be eligible, the item must be:
- unused and unfitted, with no marks, scratches or tool damage;
- complete, with all fixings and components; and
- returned in its original packaging, in the condition you received it.
You are responsible for the cost of returning the item to us and for its safe arrival, so please use a tracked and insured service. We may reduce your refund if the value of the item has been diminished by handling beyond what is needed to inspect it, in the way you would in a showroom.
Refunds are made to the original payment method within 14 days of the item reaching us, or of you giving us proof that you have sent it, whichever is earlier. The refund covers the price of the item and, if you return your whole order, the standard delivery charge you paid. Return postage is not refunded unless the return is because of our error or a fault.
What cannot be returned
- Bespoke and made-to-your-specification pieces — custom lengths, custom finishes, matched suites and anything made from your own drawing or requirements. These cannot be cancelled or returned once you have approved the drawing, unless they are faulty.
- Deposits on bespoke orders — a bespoke deposit pays for the drawing, the sample and the production time committed to your piece, and is not refundable once the drawing has been approved.
- Items that have been fitted or used, or that are returned without their original packaging.
- Trade and business orders — the 14-day consumer right to cancel does not apply to purchases made in the course of a business. Trade customers should see the returns terms of their trade account.
How to return something
- Email enquiries@george-mirza.com within 14 days of receiving your order, quoting your order number and telling us which items you are returning. We will reply with a return reference and the address to send it to. Please do not send anything back without one, as we may not be able to match it to your order.
- Pack the item in its original packaging, with all fixings, and put a note inside with your name, order number and return reference.
- Send it to us using a tracked, insured service within 14 days of telling us you want to cancel, and keep your proof of postage.
- Once we have received and checked the item, we will confirm your refund by email.
Damaged, faulty or incorrect items
This is a different matter entirely, and it is on us. If anything arrives damaged, is faulty, is not what you ordered, or is missing from your delivery, tell us within 14 days of delivery at enquiries@george-mirza.com with your order number and a photograph of the item and its packaging. We will arrange the return at our cost and repair or replace the piece, or refund you if we cannot. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected, and every piece also carries our ten-year mechanical guarantee.
Exchanges
We do not hold stock to exchange against, because every piece is made in the finish and size you chose. If you need a different size or finish, return the item under the terms above and place a new order. We are happy to help you choose; send a photograph of your door or drawer and we will advise.
Frequently asked questions
How long will my order take?
Around eight weeks for pieces from the range and 12–17 weeks for bespoke work, counted from an approved drawing. International deliveries can add a few days for freight, which we build into the estimate we give you.
Can I return something if it is not right for the room?
Yes, for pieces from the standard range, within 14 days of delivery, as long as it is unused and in its original packaging. Bespoke pieces cannot be returned. Order colour samples first so the finish is right before you buy.
Can you deliver to a site or to my fitter?
Yes. Enter the site or fitter's address at checkout and make sure someone there can sign for it on the day.
How do I track my order?
Use the tracking reference in your dispatch email. If it has not updated after 48 hours, message us and we will chase the carrier for you.
What if my dates slip?
Tell us, and we will hold your finished order for up to 60 days at no cost.
Will I have to pay customs charges?
No. For Europe, the UAE, the United States and Canada, import duty and local taxes are calculated and charged at checkout and we pay them to the carrier for you. There is nothing to pay on delivery.
Do you ship anywhere else?
We regularly deliver to the UK, Germany, France, the UAE, the United States and Canada. For other destinations email us with your address and we will confirm whether we can deliver and at what cost before you order.
